Seri Mulia Sarjana International School uses Dugga for Digital Exams

Joel Canoza Espiritu, Deputy Principal for Academics at Seri Mulia Sarjana International School

Seri Mulia Sarjana International School (SMIS) is a progressive multicultural school in Brunei Darussalam with students from over 25 countries worldwide. It takes pride in providing play-based and student-centred learning to preschool and primary students while strengthening their digital skills through technology-mediated activities/instructions both on and off-campus.

Which are SMSIS' favorite feature of Dugga?

We enjoy the variety of question types Dugga presents in addition to its backup and security features. We also appreciate Duggas ReadSpeaker and Text-to-speech features, which allow our students with learning difficulties to participate in our assessments.

How is Dugga being used at SMSIS?

Dugga is currently used as an online assessment platform for both formative (weekly quizzes and assignments) and summative assessment (end-of-term assessments).

How have the many different question types contributed to how you can assess your students/pupils?

Duggas wide range of question types allows us to design assessments that are more accessible and inclusive for students with various learning styles and needs. Questions are no longer limited to black and white texts and images. The use of different forms of media such as gifs, audio, short video clips, animated characters, photos, and various others has made our assessments more dynamic and engaging for our students.

What advice would you give to other schools preparing for Future Learning Assessment?

Our experience with online classes during the pandemic caused us to reassess and revise our programs. It is crucial that we give our students the skills they need to succeed in the future as we continue to move forward with the fourth industrial revolution, where the integration of technology-based applications, tools, and online platforms to support 21st century teaching and learning has profoundly transformed the educational system. Giving all students access to fair, trustworthy, and inclusive digital assessments such as Dugga as part of the transition is very important.

How was the response among the pupils/students and parents?

Students, teachers, and parents gave us good reviews and feedback. Students were motivated to complete the test because it gave them a more dynamic assessment that was adaptable, accessible, and immersive. It also made it evident that Dugga was preferred over other digital assessment platforms.
